Tennis open day and other upcoming events

Dear fellow tennis members

There’s so much going on here at the club and we don’t want you to miss out, so if not already there, get these events in your diaries now.

SATURDAY 29 MARCH– 1.30 TO 5.00PM – TENNIS OPEN DAY

Less than a week to go before our tennis open day - Do come, and bring your families, friends and neighbours along too. Prospective adult members and experienced older teenagers are also welcome at Sunday’s club session.

In addition to a slightly shorter club session on Saturday, there will be a chance to get on court for a bit of coaching and/or cardio-tennis. Callum is also bringing his speed gun to measure the fastest serve and if you have not yet used the ball machine it will be out at some point for you to make its acquaintance.

Noone should go hungry – enjoy a burger (£4) or sausage (£3) from the barbie – served in a bun with all the trimmings – and homemade goodies from the cake stall. It is CASH-ONLY for food, so remember to bring loads! All proceeds are destined for the Bright Ideas Tennis charity.

Thanks to all those who have already offered to help on and off court. We now have enough chefs for the day, but if anyone else would be happy to provide a cake we could do with a couple more. As many people have allergies or special dietary requirements, if you are baking a cake could you please avoid nuts and also provide a list of ingredients. If bringing a bought cake, please provide the packaging. Thanks.

SUNDAY 6 APRIL – 1PM – FINAL OF THE SURREY TIER 2 MIXED KO COMPETITION

Despite being one of the smallest teams in this competition, Ebbisham has done amazingly well to reach the final. We really do punch above our weight! Rachel and her team would welcome your support as they take on Old College Tennis Club from Dulwich. So, why not stay on after club session and cheer them on – hopefully our chefs will be firing up the barbie once more at some point in the afternoon.

MONDAY 21 APRIL – 10AM – 1PM – DOUBLES HANDICAP TOURNAMENT

Our traditional ‘Easter Bunny’ competition is back – no dressing up as bunnies necessary, just come and enjoy a morning of mix-in tennis playing with a variety of partners. We will be using our tried and tested self-regulating handicap system, with prizes for the leading lady and gent. The tournament will be followed by a ‘bring-and-share’ cold buffet. Guests are welcome to join us. Tournament entry fee £3 per person.
