2025 Club Championships (Sept/Oct)
In an attempt to stimulate more participation in the club championships throughout all sections the committee has decided this year to trial the club championships at the start of the new (2025-26) season, rather than at the end of the current (2024-25) season. The championships will therefore start w/b 1st September and culminate in finals day on Sunday 12th October.
Full details will be sent out to all section members nearer the time.
Section Play-Ups and Voluntary Downgrades (May/June)
With this year’s club championships now being later in the year, this year’s play-up assessments will take place earlier than previously and over a longer 5-week period to provide more assessment dates. The play-ups will take place from Tuesday 20th May to Thursday 19th June (inclusive).
Anyone interested in applying should first read the document 'Ebbisham Badminton 2025 Play-Up Guidelines' carefully to ensure they fully understand the terms under which the play-ups will operate. The guidelines can be found at:
Important note from guidelines: 'Assessment will be based on a player’s existing ability, or the strong potential, to achieve the midpoint standard for the higher section'.
A copy of the guidelines will also be posted on the 'General' section of the notice board in the Wilshire room alongside the sheets on each section board for all those interested to add their names to. The forms will be on the notice board from Monday 21st April with the closing date being Sunday 11th May.
All section members are urged to attend section nights over this period if at all possible, as a good turnout with a good mix of games will help facilitate the assessment process.
In addition, although this is not a re-grading year, should any section members be considering voluntarily downgrading themselves from the beginning of next season, this year it will be possible for members to try out in the lower section prior to making their decision. These try out sessions will take place after the play-ups have been completed (i.e. after 19th June) . Should you be interested please inform your section rep or the office (admin@ebbishamsportsclub.com), who will liaise with the section reps of the lower section who will then confirm when you can attend a session.
