FOLLOW-UP FROM THIS YEAR’S TENNIS AGM (with attachments)

Dear tennis members

It was good to see so many of you at this year’s tennis AGM.

Important points to come out of our discussions

  • Club sessions What happens when it is busy. Last year it had been agreed that when 12 or more players were waiting, the number of games would be reduced to 4 in total with sudden death deuce. It was suggested that in any case sudden death at 40-all be replaced with a silver point, i.e. 1 normal deuce would be played prior to the sudden death point. This was agreed and a silver point will now be played at 40-all whenever people are waiting.
  • Peg Board Etiquette in Club Sessions See this message from Gill

The peg board rules are clearly displayed, and they are designed to ensure that everyone gets their fair share of games.

We are a friendly club, and these sessions are for social tennis where you should be prepared to play with anyone and everyone.

You will get a mixture of games with players of all levels. Be patient with those who may be a lower standard than you are in the same way that players better than you will be patient with you.

If members are seen to be avoiding playing with any other members, then I will be having a quiet word with them to remind them that we all start somewhere/ may be injured, etc and that they should consider how they would feel in that position.

Thanks for your support in keeping our club sessions fun for everyone!

  • KEEPING CLAY ON THE COURTS

Clay was still accumulating on the patio and making its way into the club house. Attached is a reminder of what we should all do.

For a more detailed read, a copy of the draft minutes (including reports from the Chairman and Head Coach) is also attached.

With kind regards

The Tennis Committee
