The changes to the hall lighting, as outlined in the email of 14th November, took place earlier this week.
Diffusers have now been fitted to all the lights. As well as ‘softening’ the intensity of the lights and reducing glare, diffusers also reduce the overall light output, as they absorb and reflect light. In addition, the output of the two end lights (on each row of lights down the length of the court) is now 20% less than the middle two lights on each row (although to the naked eye this is difficult to see).
The overall uniformity across all courts should be the same as it was before, but It is hoped that the new arrangement will provide an improved experience for all members, including those who are particularly sensitive to bright lights.
