At the last badminton AGM in November 2025 I indicated that I would be stepping down as Badminton Chair after 5 years in the role, but as there were no nominations at the time I agreed to stay on until the end of January 2026.
In light of there still being no candidates coming forward to date, Steve Watkins and Clare Hunt have agreed to take on the role as Interim Joint Chairs of the badminton committee from 1st February 2026. Between them, Steve and Clare will either take on themselves , or allocate to others, responsibility for different areas , and as ex-Chairs themselves I am sure that they will do a fantastic job until a candidate can be found for the permanent role.
I would just like to end by saying that it has been an honour to hold the role as Badminton Chair, which I took up in the depths of Covid , and am now leaving at a time when the badminton section is thriving, with both adult and junior membership at one of the highest levels ever.
Although I will be taking a break from both the badminton and management committees for a period of time, I hope to be involved with both again at some point in the future, should my input still be deemed useful.
In the meantime I wish Steve, Clare and the rest of the committee all the best.
