DATES FOR YOUR DIARIES AND OTHER TENNIS NEWS

Dear Tennis members

SPOOKY WEDNESDAY - our club session on 29 October will have a Halloween flavour.

Please come suitably attired – there will be prizes for the best outfit.

Food will be served at about 8pm - there will be jacket potatoes with a choice of fillings prepared by our well-qualified tennis chefs. The cost £4 per head (in cash please) . If you have not already done so, please be sure to complete the WhatsApp poll so we know what you want to eat - you can chose 1 or more fillings (tuna-mayo, grated cheddar, baked beans). Of you are not a member of the Tennis at Ebbisham group, let Lesley know direct, along with any allergies, food intolerances, dietary requirements.

If you are able to provide a Halloween-themed dessert or cake that would be very welcome. No nuts as we have members who have a nut allergy.

We look forward to seeing loads of ghouls, ghosts, witches, wizards etc on court on 29th

FULL TENNIS SCHEDULE FOR 2025-26

OTHER NEWS or HOW WE CAN ALL HELP TENNIS TO RUN MORE SMOOTHLY ......

At our committee meetings we regularly discuss and take decisions on how things can be improved for everyone who plays tennis at Ebbisham. This can affect how we care for our courts, run sessions, communicate with other members etc. After our meeting last week we would like to draw your attention to the following items:

Court maintenance – Our courts benefit from routine maintenance by our contractor every 6 months – but it is up to us all to make sure the courts remain in tip-top condition throughout the year. So please, on completion of your session, don’t forget to drag the courts from the very edges and brush the lines. And, while waiting for a game if you see clay building up on the patio or pathway. grab a broom and sweep.
Club sessions – Please continue to use the peg-board – it really does help things run more smoothly. And though this may not happen so much now winter is drawing on, just a reminder if there are 12 or more players waiting, then the 4-game rule will apply.
Court booking – A change has been made to the booking system so courts can now be booked for a period of just 30 minutes.
Court cancellation – As courts are in short supply especially at certain times of the day, if you find you have to cancel a court it is good practice to mention this on WhatsApp to allow others the chance to snap it up.
Complaints/suggestions – Every so often our WhatsApp group gets overwhelmed with chat about things which may be going wrong at the club. We feel that while members may want to vent their feelings, it would be more productive to raise concerns with a member of the committee.

Enjoy your tennis!

With kind regards

The Tennis Committee
