Tennis News

Dear Tennis Members,

As we approach the end of summer (what summer? you may ask) may we remind you of two upcoming events:

Monday 28 August – Bank holiday mix-in tournament – 10am, followed by a bring-and-share buffet at about 1pm.

As usual this ever-popular event is open to all tennis members plus guests. Less serious (really?) than the club championships – see below – everyone gets to play at least 3 sets with a variety of players and carries their own score to the end. A self-regulating handicap scoring system is used which ensures a close outcome. Entry fee £3 per person , prizes for the winning lady and gent.

Saturday 2 September – Club championship finals day. With 13 finals to fit in, from under eights who are just starting out on their tennis journey, to the blue ribband men’s and ladies’ singles finals, this will be a busy old day. Obviously if you are lucky/skilful enough to be playing that day you will be there, but the rest of us would be fools to miss what should be a great day’s entertainment. And the players would love your support. The day will be rounded off with a bbq and dancing. The exact schedule cannot be revealed yet as it will depend on which players are in which finals – can’t have anyone playing in two at once. More details will follow.

Looking forward to seeing you there

With kind regards

The Tennis Committee
