REMINDER OF DATES FOR YOUR TENNIS DIARIES
MONDAY 26 AUGUST - 10AM - HANDICAP TOURNAMENT FOLLOWED BY A BRING AND SHARE LUNCH
This is the last bank holiday tournament of the summer. Open to all Ebbisham members and guests, the tournament will follow our popular self-regulating handicap formula. Everyone will play with a variety of partners throughout the morning, carrying their own score with them, with the winning lady and man claiming the prizes of the day. Entry to the tournament costs £2.50 per person. Food is up to you – if you want to eat, bring something to share. If you haven’t been to one of these events before, regulars will tell you they are fun and as competitive (or not) as you want them to be.– do come along and join us.
SATURDAY 31 AUGUST – CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS FINALS DAY - WITH BONUS SESSIONS FRIDAY EVENING (30 AUGUST)
This year for the first time our finals are taking place in August. Saturday 31st will see 7 junior and 6 adult finals played out, starting at 9.30am with the youngest juniors and adult mixed doubles and concluding with the 18U juniors and the men’s singles. As a bonus this year, the finals of our 2 new events, the over 50s singles and doubles, will be played the previous evening. See attached running order for details. So, plenty to watch and enjoy. Do come down for at least some of the time to cheer the players on. Refreshments will available all day (drinks from the bar, BBQ, charity cake & cheese sale – don’t forget to bring loads of cash). Trophies will be presented at the end of play, followed by music for those who wish to carry on partying.
You will realise that these events do not run themselves, so we are asking for volunteers to help out during the day. We traditionally provide umpires for all finals (to call the score not to make judgements – players must call their own lines), the BBQ does not man itself and cakes need to be baked beforehand. So far we have only received 3 offers of help, so please consider what YOU can do and let Lesley ( lesley.coles1@btinternet.com ) know in advance how you can help.
TUESDAY 3 SEPTEMBER – RESUMPTION OF TUESDAY MORNING DROP-IN SESSIONS
Following the cancellation of some of our sessions in August due to junior tennis and Try-Sport camps, our drop-in sessions are back. These sessions, from 10am to 12pm on Tuesday mornings, are open to everyone who plays tennis at Ebbisham, including silver members. Not been before? If you are free one Tuesday morning, come along and give it a try.
