Tennis - Key Dates & Events

SPRING IS HERE AND THERE'S LOTS GOING ON ON THE TENNIS COURTS. HERE ARE SOME KEY DATES OF THINGS COMING UP.

Easter handicap tournament - Monday 1 April 10am , followed by a bring-&-share buffet lunch at 1pm. Open to all members and guests. No need to book – just turn up. Tournament entry fee £2.50 per person (in cash on the day please). Prizes for the winning man and woman.

Box leagues - Current box leagues were due to close at the end of this month, but deadline now extended to 12 April . If you have matches to play, now is the time to get organised. If you wish to be added to a box league, or want to withdraw from one, please contact Gill Futcher pronto, so she can make the necessary adjustments for the next cycle.

Tennis Open day - Saturday 27 April from 1.30 to 5pm . We invite members of other Ebbisham sections and the local community, of all ages and abilities, to join us for free coaching sessions with Head Coach Callum and his assistants. There will also be cardio-tennis, a chance to find out how fast you can serve and an opportunity to face the ball machine. There will be a running barbecue throughout the afternoon. Please spread the news amongst your families, friends and neighbours by word of mouth or social media, and come along yourselves and take part in the activities. Offers of help on and off court most gratefully received. See attached poster for details .

Club championships - Entry forms for this summer’s club championships will be available at the beginning of April, so you will have ample time to get your entries in before the closing date of Wednesday 1 May . In addition to the usual events, for the first time this summer there will be 2 special events for our more mature members – over-50s singles and doubles . Both events are mixed, ie men & women will play each other in the singles and the doubles pairings can be 2 men, 2 women or one of each. All players must be 50 or over on 1 May. Finals day is scheduled for Saturday 31 August (with over-50s the previous evening) so make a note of that now.
