Volunteers needed - Disability training session, Wednesday 21st February 11am to 2pm

Last year the tennis section held a very successful tennis experience day, open to club members and the public, in conjunction with the charity Bright Ideas for Tennis headed by ex-British Davis Cup player Danny Sapsford.

In addition to the generous donations by club members of tennis equipment and clothing to be used to support young people in southern Africa, we also raised almost £700. This money was to used to support tennis in the local community, with a particular focus on supporting players with disabilities both mental and physical.

To help us put this into practice, the Bright Ideas team will be returning to Ebbisham on Wednesday 21 February. While here they will deliver 3-hours of training for our Head Coach Callum, who will be leading the disability tennis sessions, plus volunteers.

A number of tennis players have already come forward and will attend the training session to enable them to assist Callum with running disability sessions. But we are appealing for more volunteers as a higher ratio of assistants to players is needed for disability sport.

We would like to open this opportunity of training to all Ebbisham members, as much would apply to any sport; maybe in the future the club might offer similar disability sessions on badminton and squash.

Please contact the office if you would like to attend the training day on February 21st or, if unable to make that day, you would like to be involved in the future.
